As a 21-year former Schertz city councilman, I take personal exception to Scott Stroud’s May 21 column, “City considers new way to deter prostitution.”
Schertz is proud home to many active-duty and retired military. We’d prefer San Antonio not export any more of its problems to Schertz, as Stroud suggested. As he reported, you evidently have “a longstanding problem” along Roosevelt Avenue and South Presa of “ladies” engaging in prostitution.
We have no such area here and hope we never will. If San Antonio would enforce state law, the problem might go away.

A better idea to try
I’m not an engineer, but plugging the BP well off the Louisiana coast with shredded tennis balls seems unlikely to work.
