San Antonio Adult Entertainment: A useful tool to fight prostitution problem

If prostitution is illegal, it should be policed and prosecuted everywhere, not just in certain areas.

Express-News columnist Scott Stroud reported that 71 of the city’s 257 arrests for prostitution this year have taken place in the area.
Police Chief William McManus and District Attorney Susan Reed, at the request of District 3 Councilwoman Jennifer Ramos, have come up with an innovative solution — asking judges to place a condition of release on those convicted of prostitution that prevents them from returning to the area where they were arrested. A similar policy should be considered for their customers.

This change won’t eliminate prostitution. But it will make it harder for prostitutes and their customers to create de facto red light districts — to the detriment of people who live and work in them.
