Police: Girl, 12, trafficked as prostitute

SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 2 (UPI) — A San Antonio man has been charged with forcing a runaway girl into prostitution and five other men face charges for having sex with her.
Benito Rodriguez, 30, was arrested Tuesday, the San Antonio Express-News reported. The charges include aggravated sexual assault of a child and trafficking someone under 18 as a prostitute.
The girl told police she was only 12 years old in March 2008 when she accepted a lift from a man who took her into his home, raped her and tutored her in prostitution. That man has not yet been arrested.

The girl was arrested on a prostitution charge in June 2008 and returned to her mother. She had a baby and gave it up for adoption.

Where did anyone say he was a Sheriff ? He use to be a deputy sheriff until he was fired. Use to work in Alamo Heights until he was fired also. Lara, you must be one of his colonies. He will deputise anyone that will give him money or vote for him. Get your facts straight.

As a licensed peace officer, I love serving my community for free but sometimes I wonder about the people on this chat… if they have any education at all. Constable Vojvodich is not a sheriff. Get your facts straight before commenting. You would also be s …

SAN ANTONIO — By now it should be no surprise that the popular website Craigslist.org can serve as a place to solicit prostitution. However, one Bexar County constable claims it happens all the time.

“We don’t want prostitution. We don’t want the drug sales, and we certainly don’t want it coming across an anonymous media such as Craigslist so that it can involve kids, children or, people who really aren’t aware of what they’re getting into,” said Vojvodich.

The Bexar County Constable’s Office said both were originally also charged with solicitation of prostitution, but that charge was dropped since it is a misdemeanor. Police said both men bailed out on $10,000 bonds.

San Antonio Escorts: State looks to close dozens of picnic areas

Sunday, October 23rd, 2011

Shaded tables no longer meet the convenience demands of many modern motorists, although some drivers do still pack a lunch and enjoy the quiet roadside stops.
“Motoring has changed considerably since the 1950s,” TxDOT spokesman John Hurt said. “Now, people want to go inside and get a cold drink and have restroom facilities.”
Gillespie County Commissioners recently endorsed state plans to close all eight picnic areas there that, as local TxDOT official Daniel Crenwelge put it, “have outlived their usefulness and become a public problem rather than a public asset.”
County Judge Mark Stroeher said, “I’m not convinced they’ve outlived their purpose … (but) commissioners have seen how trashy they’ve gotten sometimes.”
Besides finding household garbage in the trash bins, he said some hunters leave deer entrails in the picnic areas.
Elsewhere, Hurt reported, criminals have used the picnic areas for drug dealing and prostitution.

San Antonio Escorts: SA mom traded sex with daughter for cocaine, police say

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

According to an arrest warrant, the 44-year-old mom forced her daughter to perform sex acts in exchange for $20 bags of cocaine. The daughter told police the prostitution had gone on since she was 15 and stopped in August.
Police said it started when the mother took the teen to a residence on South Pine and Westfall. Her mother allegedly compelled the teen to go into a room with a man named Johnnie, who had sex with her in exchange for a bag of cocaine.
The teen continued to trade sex for drugs with Johnnie because her mother threatened to hit her with a pan, according to the warrant. Investigators said the girl recalled going to the man’s home and into a room with at least five other men.
Police said the mother confessed to taking her child to the cocaine dealer at least 15 times in sex-for-drugs trades. The mother was charged with trafficking a person under 18 and compelling a minor into prostitution. She remains in jail on bonds that total $125,000.

Police: Woman Used Daughter As Prostitute For Drugs
Sally Garcia Charged With Compelling Prostitution, Trafficking Child
POSTED: Thursday, October 13, 2011
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police arrested a woman who they believe forced her teenage daughter to work as a prostitute to feed her drug habit.
Police said they discovered the alleged abuse when they answered a disturbance call Wednesday involving the teen and Sally Garcia, 44.
An arrest affidavit stated the now-18-year-old told officers that Garcia forced her to have sex with a man who, in exchange, supplied Garcia with cocaine.
The teen said the visits to the man’s home began when she was 15 and continued until she was 17, the affidavit stated.

Garcia faces charges of compelling prostitution and trafficking of a child. She’s being held in the Bexar County Jail on bonds totaling $125,000.

Six people have been indicted and arrested on charges that they sold heroin by the ounce from an East Side restaurant and two nearby homes.
Six others were arrested earlier in the yearlong investigation, which included an undercover purchase of heroin from a kitchen freezer at Anna’s Café in the 2400 block of East Houston Street, according to federal court documents.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and San Antonio Police Department announced the busts Tuesday and said the drug ring had contributed to increased crime on the East Side, from prostitution to crimes of violence, including murder.

San Antonio Escorts: 18-year-old takes deal in baby’s death

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

In an interview with police, De La Rosa admitted he had slapped and choked the baby several days earlier when she wouldn’t stop crying. The couple took her to the fire station several hours after realizing she had stopped breathing, he said.
Navejar told police she had been using heroin for about a year, since shortly after her first child was born, and that she never wanted the baby to begin with. She knew De La Rosa would hit the child, she said, adding that she also realized she didn’t feed or care for the child like she should have.
But Navejar was a victim of abuse as well, defense attorney Raymond De Leon said after the hearing, describing his client as a “sweet girl” who has had a lot of time to reflect.
“She was under (De La Rosa’s) thumb,” De Leon said. “He was shooting her up with heroin, beating her, had her walking the streets” to prostitute herself.
