San Antonio Adult Entertainment: Outrage: exposing anti-gay hypocrisy in politics

Monday, October 25th, 2010

Written by Nate Micó | 25 October 2010
Closeted politicians backing anti-gay policies are the targets of Kirby Dick’s explosive doco, Outrage. But it’s not about outing people. As the director tells Nate Mico, it’s about exposing hypocrisy.
From the opening moments of Kirby Dick’s Outrage, it’s clear the expose on gay US politicians wedged firmly in the closet in Washington’s Capitol Hill has no interest in subtlety.
Transposed over the opening titles is a recording of a police interview with a man arrested for soliciting sex in a public bathroom.
Man: “I went in to the bathroom; I got in the stall, sat down. Your foot came toward mine, my foot came towards yours; was that natural I don’t know.  Did we bump? Yes we did. The next thing I knew under the bathroom divider comes a card that says police.”

San Antonio Adult Entertainment: The true horror story of the Gunter Hotel ghost, Part 3

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

Note: This is Part 3 of Examiner reporter Jack Dennis’s story on the true murder and ghost story that begain at San Antonio’s Gunter Hotel in February 1965.  Dennis interviewed several retired San Antonio police officers, including Frank “Mr. Homicide” Castillon (in 1976, one year before his retirement), Ben Hart (a few weeks before his death in May 2010) and Jack’s own father, Walter “Corky” Dennis (who still fascinates and inspires Jack to investigate and tell a story with true tales of the San Antonio police department).
“I wanted to catch this man real bad, Detective Frank Castillon said in a 1976 interview to this reporter. “I especially wanted to find the body of the woman, or at least the part of the body that (Walter A.) Emerick took with him.”
‘I wanted to know who he was and who she was,” he continued. “I wanted to know as much as I could about them.”
“Now, at this point in time we did not know if this blond was his wife, a girlfriend, a prostitute,” Castillon pointed out. “But some witnesses at the Gunter and other information told us he had been seen with at least two different blonds.”

San Antonio Escorts: If Spitzer’s Sex Scandal Was Riveting, a New Memoir Shows the Nightmare of …

Friday, October 8th, 2010

Although we catch a glimpse into this world of sex through the eyes of a high priced call turned mistress, the book raises questions about exploitation and abuse which are often overlooked.
New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof published an op-ed piece with an eye-catching title “The Pimps Slaves” where he argues:
…whatever one thinks of legalizing prostitution, lets face reality: The big problem out there is the teenage girls who are battered by their pimps, who will have to meet their quotas tonight and every night, who are locked in car trunks or in basements, who have guns shoved in their mouths if they hint of quitting. If the Spitzer affair causes us to lose sight of that, then the biggest loser will be those innumerable girls, far more typical than Kristen, for whom selling sex isnt a choice but a nightmare.

If Spitzer’s Sex Scandal Was Riveting, a New Memoir Shows the Nightmare of Prostitution
Submitted by editor on October 6, 2010 – 03:30
The tendency of powerful men to cheat and the public’s prurient fascination are constants of American culture. If Eliot Spitzer’s sex scandal riveted the media, it was because the public wanted all the juicy details. The same was true for the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky affair.

”…whatever one thinks of legalizing prostitution, let’s face reality: The big problem out there is the teenage girls who are battered by their pimps, who will have to meet their quotas tonight and every night, who are locked in car trunks or in basements, who have guns shoved in their mouths if they hint of quitting. If the Spitzer affair causes us to lose sight of that, then the biggest loser will be those innumerable girls, far more typical than “Kristen,” for whom selling sex isn’t a choice but a nightmare.”

San Antonio Strip Clubs: Judge Bans Nude Dancing in San Antonio

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

San Antonio is no longer the party town it used to be. According to a city ordinance, strip clubs are not permitted to feature nude dancers and strippers must remain at least three-feet away from the patrons, so no lap dances or getting cash tips on the G-strings.
The San Antonio Express-News reports that, “as of Wednesday, nude dancing at gentleman’s clubs is illegal in San Antonio, a judge said. In litigation filed by two clubs that offer nude dancing, state District Judge Michael Perden signed two injunctions declaring RCI Entertainment, which does business at XTC Cabaret and Paradise Entertainment, are ‘specifically restrained from allowing individuals to appear in a state of total nudity.’”
Jim Deegear, an attorney representing Paradise and XTC, said that he’ll suggest to the clubs they abide by the injunctions immediately, although they had not been served. Deegar admitted that he learned about the injunctions from a reporter.
