San Antonio Strip Clubs: Mike Leach fired: Texas Tech coach’s methods seen as cruel

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Leach was suspended Monday as the school investigated complaints from a player, Adam James, that the coach sent him to sit alone in an equipment room for not playing through a concussion. The room was originally described as a dark shed, but reports have since suggested it is a decent-size storage room.
When Leach filed a lawsuit trying to overturn the suspension so he could coach in Saturday’s Alamo Bowl, the school fired him.
‘Old school’ coaching or new anger?
The Leach firing comes a few weeks after Kansas University football coach Mark Mangino resigned amid accusations by players that he physically and emotionally abused them at practice and during games. Mangino was college football Coach of the Year in 2008. Leach was 2008 Big 12 Coach of the Year.
Unlike coaches such as Rick Neuheisel or Mike Price, who were both fired in 2003 for off-campus issues (gambling and allegations of indecent behavior with a stripper, respectively), the two recent examples point to coaching techniques that verge on cruelty.

Sex for Series tix lands her in even hotter water
BENSALEM, Pa. A Philadelphia woman charged with offering sex for World Series tickets faces a new prostitution charge on top of the earlier pending charges.
Police testified at a preliminary hearing Wednesday that Susan Finkelstein sent topless photos to them after posting an online Craigslist ad. They said she also made graphic gestures and suggestions when she later met with an undercover Bensalem officer at a bar.
The 43-year-old Finkelstein insists she was merely being creative in her attempt to take her husband to a game between the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees.
The self-described buxom blonde had already faced a charge of promoting prostitution.

San Antonio Escorts: Mammograms become political weapon

Monday, December 14th, 2009

… An overwhelming 90% of you responded ‘no’; you do not think women between the ages of 40-49 should be denied access to life-saving mammograms. This Task Force features prominently in the health care legislation being considered by the Senate, and its recommendations will carry tremendous weight under any government takeover of healthcare,” a message on Kirk’s blog read several days later.
But even as Republicans raced to blast the task force recommendations, they also found themselves on the defensive.
Democrats snickered after incumbent Sen. David Vitter, a conservative Republican facing a potentially tough 2010 re-election bid, recently cast one of two GOP votes for a Democratic amendment requiring insurance companies to cover breast cancer screenings – even as the legislation came under fire from abortion opponents, who said the amendment could lead to an expansion of coverage for abortions.
John Maginnis, a Louisiana political analyst, said the vote made sense for Vitter, whose support from women sunk after he was tied to a Washington prostitution ring in 2007.

San Antonio Strip Clubs: Bryan Adams at the FM Kirby Center – CONCERT CAPSULE

Friday, December 11th, 2009

THE HIGHLIGHTS: Adams played nearly all of his hits, including those mentioned above plus early favorites “This Time” and “Lonely Nights.” Other highlights included “Cuts Like A Knife,” “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You,” and a rocking version of “The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You,” with Adams attacking his guitar and breaking a string. New song “You’ve Been a Friend to Me” sounded just as good as the old favorites. Adams closed the show with his holiday song, “Christmastime.”
THE SURPRISES: Adams displayed a wonderful sense of humor throughout the evening, as he added exaggerated twang to “Please Forgive Me” (“This would make a great country song,” he said), and told a story about the inspiration behind his big hit “Heaven” (a forgettable movie about a male stripper).
